Meet Dane and Madison.
I could go all into the details of their story but let’s skip forward to the planning process of their elopement. It was in 2020 in the heat of the pandemic. They decided to have a very intimate elopement including Chandler (Madison’s sister), Robert (my boyfriend and Dane’s best-friend), and me! Honored is an understatement for how I felt that these two creatives chose me to document their day. I loved how intentional they were with the planning process and the details. They started the day in separate rooms at Gravity Haus Vail getting ready, as you’ll see below. Madison had family members on skype watching her get ready, it was a really sweet time.
After we were all ready, Dane drove me to the ceremony area. He pretty much gave me free rein on choosing the spot *cue anxiety* but I think we did pretty good. I loved that they gave me so much creative freedom and trusted me. Dane and I set up the ceremony spot while Robert drove Madison and Chandler up. These photos take me right back to these moments. Obviously, my feelings are minute compared to what they were feeling, but since I consider myself a bit of an empath, and I am the one writing this blog, I’ll share 😉 First of all, picture tears in my eyes and running down my cheeks throughout this entire ceremony. No music was played so all we heard was nature and each other, and the crazy wind. Seeing your friends commit to each other is just so special, and being in charge of documenting it is a surreal feeling. Like — this is real, this is happening, this is love, this is amazing. Also, Robert got to marry them which I know is one of his favorite memories ever. They shared handwritten vows with each other, then sealed the deal with a kiss. We were all a mess by the end of it. I’ll always remember these moments.
Then they popped bottles, of course.
Their couple’s portraits are some of my favorites of all time.
The scenery is beautiful, yes, but I remember just being so happy, so full of love, and so excited to create with them.
& I’ll never be over their solo portraits. You can find them plastered all over my website haha.
The crew <3
We finished the evening with amazing burgers and shakes, and a little hot tub hang. It was the best time!
